Charakarts™ Project History

In 2002, Antoine Revoy drew a series of characters, fictional or representing friends, with the concept of having them coexist in a videogame-inspired realm.

Original 2002 sketches:

In 2011, original charakarts as well as new designs were created and are now published online for public viewing. While there is a cast of over 60 charakarts at this date, they will be revealed one by one on a quasi-daily basis.

The cast of charakarts is selected according to the artist’s whim, sometimes as a homage to favourite stories, sometimes for surprise’s sake, as an odd and unexpected mix of genres. The only rules that dictate the choice of charakarts is playful artistic creation and personal resonance, without any concern for popularity (you will not find renditions of characters for mainstream appeal’s sake, no students in wizardry nor flavour of the year female pop singers), stylistic homogeneity or level of caricature.

About Charakarts

"Charakarts™" is a character design side project by illustrator and designer Antoine Revoy. Charakarts are an eclectic ensemble of characters driving imaginative kart-like vehicles. This project originated in a series of drawings created in 2002 and remained confidential till 2011, when the decision was made to present the initial artwork as well as new charakarts, online.
